A collection of poetry translated into Latin and Greek, showing the original English, illustrated with a lithographic frontispiece, compiled by Benjamin Hall Kennedy and James Riddell. A collection of poetry translated from English into Latin or Greek, with the translations facing the English poem. Containing poems by Smollett, Moore, SHelley, Tennyson, Byron, Burns, Swift, and more. With a lithographic frontispiece, and numerous other in-text illustrations. Compiled by Benjamin Hall Kennedy and James Riddell. Kennedy was a scholar and schoolmaster, known for his teaching Latin. He was the main contributor of translations or this work. Kennedy also wrote a number of other classical and theological works. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso to the front endpaper. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper, 'Filio alumnoque meo Georgia Harico Holden anno nato XIV ipsis natalibus pater amans MDCCCLXIII. Gathered on Mt Blane by dearest Papa on Sunday July 19th 1863'. In a full vellum binding. Externally, generally smart. Light discolouration to the boards and spine, as is usual with vellum. Minor marks to the boards and spine. A little bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's ink inscription to the verso to the front endpaper. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto to the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, though with some spots and marks to the first few pages. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
