With notes, bibliography and index. Red cloth backstrip over cream paper covered boards, titles stamped in gilt on the spine. In the photo-illustrated dust jacket unclipped: spine sunned. The Lemhi Shoshone conducted lives of traditional pursuits until pioneers, consisting of Mormon missionaries, gold miners and ranchers, began encroaching on their land in the early 19th century. Alas, an 1868 treaty was never ratified; it would have given them land and legal standing. Dust jacket is now preserved in a removable clear archival sleeve.
