Olive green cloth with black, brown, ivory and gilt lettering and pictorial stamping. 753pp. Frontispiece, full-page illustrations, floral endpapers. Very good. Faint binding edgewear; old but neat and discreet cloth tape reinforcement of inner hinges; text block moderately age toned as usual; ownership signature on inner flyleaf. Later printing of this 1882 combination of two works first published in 1855 -- penned by this journalist and author (1830-1901) whose namesake grandson co-authored with James Norman Hall the bestselling "Bounty Trilogy." Delightful front board graphics.
