Paris, Garnier Freres, ca 1868 New Edition.. Tall hardback ,10.5 x 7.5 inches. Dark red polished morocco leather fine binding by “Lesort, Paris.” Raised banding and gilt lettering to spine. Gilt decorative ‘cross’ designs to boards. Wide inner gilt dentelles, decorative patterned gilt endpapers. Full gilt page edging. In very good condition. Stunning leather binding. Some minor slight rubbing to corners, small bump to bottom leading corner, and thin rubbed patch to bottom of spine edge under binders stamp. Binders label to corner of front endpaper. Neat inscription to front endpaper in french “Arthur Abortemart, Souvenir de la premiere communion... 1868.” Some areas of mild light foxing to some pages, else pages and plates all very clean and tight throughout. Else an excellent clean and tight copy. 588pp. With a decorative illuminated colour title page, and full page B&W engraved plates, all guarded. Each page has a wide decorative floral border illustrated with figures of Christ and Angels. Illustrated with pictorial chapter headings, tail and letterpieces.
