Cloth, 4to,. vi, 465 pp. Reproduces the auction sale catalogues for the following William Beckford sales: 24-26 May 1804; 9-11 June 1808; 6-8 May 1817; 9 September - 29 October 1823. Gemmett provides an introduction to each catalogue setting the sale in context, giving references to printed accounts of the library concerned and to surviving books from the collection, and to any special features of interest in the catalogue. A longer general introduction discusses Beckford himself. Some 5.000 books are listed in the sale catalogues. All the catalogues save the first are reproduced from annotated copies. Top edge duststained, otherwise Very Good in a sunned and slightly marked dustwrapper.
