Sobre este artículo
Caldwell, Idaho: Caxton Printers, Ltd., 1949. First Edition, 3rd Printing 3rd Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good+. Lee, Leslie W.. Described as "an Indian boy Crusoe,'' this mid-20th-century children's story tells the adventures of Pi-yuck, a "salt-water Indian lad" on the West Coast of California, member of a tribe that is "peaceful [with] little of the warlike nature of the Indians of the inland region." The author lived "close to the Indian country'' described herein in southern California, & gathered her information directly from local Indians. Her husband, Leslie, illustrated this book with a soft water color frontispiece & pen-and-ink drawings throughout the 144 pages of text. Much acclaimed by educators at the time, it is now scarce in the trade, especially in this fine a condition. Orig. published in 1941, this is a Third Printing of that FIRST EDITION from 1949. Hardcover 8vo (6" x 9.25") has salmon-colored cloth-covered boards lettered & stamped with an elaborate black design to front & spine. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding straight & strong, pages creamy white with a hint of tanning to edges, but completely unmarked. The unclipped DJ (with orig. $2.50 price intact to front flap) is VG+: colorful & unfaded, with very modest rubbing to extremities & slight chipping; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover free! Our photos depict the exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same day shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, Weekends, & holidays ship very next business day.
