Sobre este artículo
3 parts in 1 volume [Alle dichterischen Werke. 3 Teile in 1 Band.]. Hardcover. Very good +/very good. A Very Good to Very Good + copy of the third edition of this volume containing all of Friedrich von Hagedorn's poetic works, being 3 parts in 1 volume, those parts being Poetische Werke. 1.-3. Theil. The volume is illustrated by a frontispiece and 3 title vignettes and is bound in contemporary tan paper covered boards and wears itsbrown dust jacket with handwritten spine label, being an ORIGINAL RARE BINDERY DUST JACKET in very good condition with some tearing and loss to the jacket's spine panel as well as a closed tear to the lower portion of the front panel. The jacket's spine hosts the volume's handwritten title label with a number (172) presumably a prior owner's personal library number. The jacket has a large number of flaps that work to keep the jacket on the book, a feature which helped insure the jacket's survival on the book. Some of the flaps cannot be opened and we note that the jacket is exceedingly difficult to separate from the book itself. WE STRONGLY ADVISE THAT NO ATTEMPT TO SEPARATE THE JACKET FROM THE BOOK BE MADE. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RETURN OF THIS BOOK IF THE BOOK OR JACKET HAS ANY FURTHER DAMAGE THAN THAT ALREADY EXISTING. The jacket has five flaps attaching it to each board (together making ten [10] as well astwo (2) flaps to the spine panel, one at each end, making a grand total of twelve (12) flaps. As shown in the images provide on our proprietary Allington Books site (but not on our ABE or on Biblio listings). The binding shows some unsurprising general wear but cannot be fully examined due to the inability to fully safely remove the dust jacket, but including some wear and a split there to the book's front panel meets the spine tail and another tear due to an earlier examiner's attempt to remove the dust jacket (as shown in an image included on our proprietary site). A bookplate resides on the volume's front pastedown and two signatures, respectively dated 1804 and 1888, appear on the front free endpaper's recto. Two old slips of paper are loosely inserted into the volume with a small extending part that threatens to detach and we offer no warranty or representation regarding either of such extraneous slips of paper. Also, what appears to be a small blank sticker -- presumably for use as a spine label -- is affixed to the rear free endpaper's recto. Hagendorn (1708-1754 was a highly-regarded German Poet and Enlightenment Thinker who introduced a fresh sense of lightness and grace to German Poetry. Per Encyclopedia Britannica: "Hagedorns father was the Danish ambassador in Hamburg, and the young Hagedorn in 1729 became an unpaid private secretary to the Danish ambassador in London. He returned to Hamburg in 1731 and two years later was appointed secretary to the English trading company Englischer Hof, a position that gave him a great deal of leisure." As noted above, the volume wears its RARE ORIGINAL BINDERY DUST JACKET and is the RAREST AND EARLIEST OF SUCH DUST JACKETS KNOWN TO US MAKING THIS AN EXTRAORDINARILY RARE BOOK INDEED
