Pp. vi+282; grey textured papered boards, lettered in red, edges lightly browned, light soiling, portion of bottom edge of lower board lightly bumped; dust wrapper, browned, worn at extremities, with several chips, and splits, a few small holes in back flap fold, top edge of backstrip tape repaired on reverse; leaves lightly browned, some scattered foxing, mainly to endpapers and edges of leaves; Angus & Robertson, Sydney, 1958. First Australian edition. Loder p. 230. *First published in London by Hutchinson in 1931. Loder, p. 231: 'The story has roots associated with a real murder case in which Upfield gave evidence, and later described in a very rare booklet, The Murchison Murders (1934). The theme was important to him as it is repeated in one of the few short stories he wrote, Wisp of Wool and Disk of Silver'. In 1987, H. R. K. Keating chose The Sands of Windee as the 1931 entry in Crime & Mystery: the 100 best books.
