Sobre este artículo

London: Collins, 1972. First edition. Hardback. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 8" by 5.5". None. An excellent first UK edition of Jack Higgins' thrilling novel. This first UK edition of best-selling author Jack Higgins' daring thriller 'The Savage Day' which follows under-cover arms dealer Simon Vaughan as he attempts to uncover a huge stash of bullion hijacked by the IRA on behalf of the British Army, beset on all sides by dangerous foes. Higgins, a pen name of Henry Patterson, has written eighty-five novels which have sold over 150 million copies and have been translated into 55 languages, marking him as an incredibly successful thriller and espionage novelists throughout his career. First UK edition, in unclipped dustwrapper. Small section pasted to the recto of the contents page with usual disclaimer, presumably added after printing but before publication, which is an interesting addition given the publication date and subject matter (IRA): 'All characters in the story are imaginary and no reference is intended to apply to any living person and any identification of any character with a living person would be quite mistaken, unintentional and co-incidental.' An exhilarating thriller, Higgins' 'The Savage Day' ensured the author received an exciting reputation early in his career. In the publisher's original binding with unclipped dustwrapper showing the £1.60 price. Externally, very smart, with only some minor shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine. The dustwrapper is very smart, with only some minor age-toning, minor shelf wear to the head and tail of the spine, and some creasing to the fly leaves. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
