An uncommon new edition. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. With an engraved frontispiece, illustrated title page, and twenty-nine plates. Collated complete. The plates are on different pages than stated in the list of illustrations, however all are present. An exciting Victorian adventure novel, aimed at boys. Written by William Henry Giles Kingston, an English writer of boy's fiction. Other popular works by Kingston include, 'Peter the Whaler', 'Blue Jackets', and, 'Digby Heathcote'. With four pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of the volume. With a prize bookplate from Highlanders Academy for one, 'John McNeil', to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart with some shelf wear to the edges and light bumping to the spine. Slight fading to the spine. Discolouration marks to the front board. Offsetting to the free endpapers. Bookseller's label and prize bookplate to front paste-down. Internally, binding slightly strained but still firm. Pages lightly age-toned to the edges but otherwise bright and clean. Some scattered spots throughout. Some handling marks to the illustrated title page. Spotting to the fore-edge. Very Good
