Publishers' terracotta cloth with printed paper title label to spine; fore- and lower-edge uncut. Lower corners bruised and spine tips rubbed. Inscribed to ffep: "Peter Gibbings with Best Wishes from the Author Sept. 1939" above another inscription "Anna Winsloe with Love from Grannie 1970". Endpapers lightly toned otherwise contents clean and crisp. A Very Good copy. The Author's first book, a collection of eleven stories adapted and translated from sources around the world by Marjorie Strachey, sister of Lytton Strachey. Scarce.
