Sobre este artículo

"Describes the fur bearing animals, their nature, habits and distribution, with practical methods for their capture."

Over one hundred years ago, the author wrote in his introduction, "Among the many outdoor occupations, trapping the furbearing animals is perhaps the most pleasant and in many instances is also very profitable." While that same trapping drove many animals to the brink of extinction in many parts of the United States, it should be noted that this book serves as a source of that early knowledge and has been added to the public domain of information.

Condition: Hardbound dark rust cloth boards with black lettering on cover and spine with an illustration of a hunter and fox to the front cover. The boards show minimal wear but have some cosmetic blemishes to the rear board. Top and bottom of the back strip are slightly worn. Corners are sharp but all have wear. Spine is straight with hinges firmly attached to the endpapers. The text block is solid with pages firmly attached. Age tanning throughout. The interior pages are in very good condition with no chips, tears, or previous owner markings but there are some smudges, stains, and foxing. Filled with black & white photographs and drawings. 229 pages with a section on steel traps and four pages of advertising.

Harry Elmer Kreps (1880 – 1957) was born in central Pennsylvania where both small and large game were plentiful in the wilderness near his home. From an early age he took an interest in hunting and trapping. In time he would visit various parts of the United States and Canada, learning vast amounts of information about life in the woods and fields and then would go on to write three books that he also illustrated: Science of Trapping (1909), Camp & Trail Methods (1910) and Woodcraft (1919) which he is most remembered for.
