Seattle, Washington: Institute of Scientific Criminology, 1933. First edition. Hardcover book bound in the publisher's original black leatherette gilt. 16 cm. 96 pages. Contains a frontispiece depicting a protocol diagram of a murder investigation. Inscribed and signed by Luke S. May directly on the front loose end page. May (1892-1965), often referred to as "America's Sherlock Holmes", was one of the first American criminalists and a pioneer in scientific laboratory investigation techniques. The book is in near fine condition. No other ownership marks/writing present within. Hinges tight, interior pages bright. A few creased page corners. Abrading to the page opposite the title page. Light edge wear/flaking to the covers. Scarce, especially so signed.
