Originally published 1912, now with a foreword by the author and woodcut illustrations. Illustrated with a frontispiece, six plates, and many head and tailpieces. Collated complete. An account of the voyage of the tramp steamer Capella from Swansea to Santa Maria de Belem do Grae Para, Brazil. With details of the further voyage along the forests of the Amazon and Madeira Rivers to the San Antonio Falls, returning to Barbados before heading to Jamaica, Tampa, and Florida. Written by Henry Major Tomlinson, a British writer and journalist known for his anti-war and travel writing, especially of life at sea. Illustrated by Clare Marie Veronica Leighton, an English-American artist, writer and illustrator, best known for her wood engravings. In the original quarter green cloth with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Light sunning to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
