First Thus: 1960 Weekly Reader Book Club Edition 8vo size green clothbound hardcover with illustrated dust jacket; 185 pages with some black and white decorations and full page illustrations. The last page is a biography of the author, Mary Q. Steele, who wrote under the pen name Wilson Gage. From dust jacket: "David and Kathy Vance knew there was something (odd) about Crossbone Hill the moment they saw it looking above the swamp behind the South Carolina beach cottage where they were vacationing. So when Kathy discovered a crude map hidden in a bird's nest, and they were both warned by a mysterious stranger to keep out of the swamp, they were certain they were on the track of real treasure." Bumped head and heel of spine, cocked spine, minor chipping to jacket at head and heel of spine and corners and a small hole in crease of front jacket flap, some rubbing to jacket, tanned pages, two creased page corners. This book belongs to flap is filled in, the tear off bookmark on the back flap is missing. Family historians: the name in the book is Carolyn Magner. . First Thus. Cloth. Good/Good.
