Sobre este artículo
Secret of the Waving Bamboos (no 'The')
This book is undated; it was published after the war and the author died in 1950, so c 1947. Includes 13 black and white illustrations.
The dust jacket is in excellent condition, with normal wear marks. The book has obviously not been read. It has a pale blue tweed cover with scarlet type on the spine. Aside from a faint trace of red pencil on the inside back cover it is absolutely pristine.
Not a lot is known about Arthur Waterhouse. He wrote several best-selling books for teens, mostly adventure tales, and several stories about horses and dogs. Many of his stories were broadcast on radio, as well as translated into other languages. He was from Lancashire, lived in Leeds and died in Blackpool. Some of his other titles were Jenny from Ireland, Dark Champion, Wings for Pinky, Rogues of the Fells, and Rungate Manor.
According to this dust jacket, Secret of the Waving Bamboos is "An enthralling story set in the bandit country of China and Tibet. An expedition to search for a rare Chinese bear-cat proves an exciting holiday for Tony and Ann Gayford and their Professor father. Their adventures are full of intrigue and their souvenirs do not stop at one Chinese bear-cat".
