Laid-in, a typed letter dated October 8, 1963 on the author's letterhead, to a Louisvillian asking for a donation to Recording for the Blind, Inc., on whose board Brown served. Brown's signature has been clipped and pasted to the first free endpaper. John Mason Brown, a critic, author and lecturer, was born in Louisville in 1900 and worked for fourteen years as drama critic for the New York Evening Post. He died in 1969. This book contains his observations on celebrities of the day that had appeared in his weekly column, Seeing Things, a regular feature of The Saturday Review of Literature, of which the author was the associate editor..
