Sobre este artículo

New York, New York, USA: Alfred A. Knopf, 2002. First Edition. Hardcover. As New/As New. 8vo - over 7. Type: Hard Back First Printing Hardcover Book and Dust Jacket As New. Bright, clean, tight, solid book. Brushed gray cloth binding w/silver and gilt titles. Clean bright jacket, not price-clipped. Jacket painting: Portrait of Polyxena Stasova after Repin (detail) by Nicholas M. Raynolds. This novel, John Updike's twentieth novel, takes place in one day, as did his first novel, 'The Poorhouse Fair', (1959). During much conversation and much rain, the relationship between two women, the 78 year-old painter Hope Chafetz and a New York interviewer, move in and out of their various roles in life. Hope recapitulates, through the story of her own career, the saga of postwar American art. Set in central Vermont, spring, 2001. 276 pages, 8.25 x 5.5 inches. 2002. Alfred A. Knopf, New York, New York, USA
