Sobre este artículo
Utah: Robert Thompson, 1989. Near Fine.
1.5 inch white three-ring notebook with 14 sleeves and an envelope of additional mostly color photos.Several are documenting tests of the m rocket motor. Most of the photos are 4 by 6. A few loose are polaroids with stiff backing. A few have written information on the rear
Approximately 50 photographs taken by Robert Thompson of the Morton-Thiokol solid rocket motor. An additional 50 photographs in an album of a train trip returning solid rocket motor segments to Utah from California.
The outer cover of the album has minor soiling. No other flaws.. The motor segments, referred to as the solid rocket motor (SRM), and later renamed "reusable solid rocket motor" (RSRM), contained the fuel to power the SRBs.1488The SRMs/RSRMs were the largest and only human-rated solid-propellant rocket motors ever flown, and the first designed for recovery and reuse.
Background Information:
Thiokol was an American corporation concerned initially with rubber and related chemicals, and later with rocket and missile propulsion systems. Its name is a portmanteau of the Greek words for sulfur and glue, an allusion to the company's initial product, Thiokol polymer.
