Neihardt was the fine poet laureate of Nebraska who expressed the history of the high plains in epic poetry & prose. This copy is an unusual review copy that has laid in a glossy 5" x 7" b/w portrait of Neihardt, the same one as the frontispiece. Attribution slip on reverse: photographer Ron Nicodemus. Also, a plainly printed folded sheet containing a "Biography of Vine Deloria, Jr." is laid in. Essays by Dee Brown, Alvin M. Josephy, Jr., N. Scott Momaday, Frank Waters, Frederick Manfred, & 8 others. Fine in dj.
