Hardcover has dark olive brown cloth-covered boards with gold and black spine and cover lettering and decorations. 387 pages, plus publisher's advertisements at rear. Library label on front free endpaper. Library stamps on title page, in text on page 40 and page 227, and on last text page. Public school library check-out slip on rear free endpaper. Binding cracked at second blank front end paper and before advertisements at rear; webbing visible, but pages not loose. Corners and spine ends bumped and rubbed, with some fraying at tips and spine ends. Covers have moderate edge wear and surface rubbing. Back cover has moisture stain at bottom corner and up the fore edge. Page edges soiled. There is a dark brown moisture stain on the bottom corner of all the pages. Stain penetrates to about a half an inch at most; due to the large margins this stain does not affect any text. There are also some small light moisture stains at the top page edges. No dust jacket. Carefully packed, shipped in a box.
