Sobre este artículo

London: William Mackenzie , 1880. First edition. Cloth. Very Good Indeed. 11" by 8.5". Not Stated. A brightly illustrated set of five first editions presenting the country seats and estates of British noblemen and gentlemen. First edition, bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth.Dated using Jisc. Five volumes of Morris' set 'A Series of Picturesque Views of Seats of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland'. Lacking Volume VI. A stunning collection of this pictorial work of British and Irish country seats, homes, and estates of noblemen and gentlemen from the nineteenth century. Edited by the Rev. Francis Orpen Morris, who was an Anglo-Irish clergyman, known for his varied historical works which often focused on the natural world. Each volume is decorated with a frontispiece and an illustrated title page as well as thirty-eight stunning colour plates illustrated by Alexander Francis Lydon and coloured by Benjamin Fawcett. Descriptions alongside each plate are provided by Morris. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, very good, with light rubbing to the extremities, causing slight loss to cloth. Fading to the spine and light rubbing to the joints, causing the occasional small tear. Hinges are strained but holding firm, with the exception of the rear joint of Volume I, which is tenderly held by a few cords. Light spotting to endpapers, with the rear endpaper to Volume I detached but present. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with scattered spotting and the occasional page affected by offsetting. Very Good Indeed
