Ad on the rear cover for 30,000 acres of choice farm lands in Clay County, Texas. Henrietta, Texas is the county seat of Clay County, twenty miles south of Wichita Falls. Henrietta was incorporated in 1881. In 1882 the Fort Worth and Denver City Railway reached Henrietta. In 1890 the town had a population of 2,100, a photographer, several saloons and hotels, restaurants, a 400-seat opera house, two banks, a cigar manufacturer, churches of five denominations, a school, a jail, and two newspapers, the Henrietta Independent and the Clay County Chieftain.
