Text in Japanese and English. Profusely illustrated with Shimooka Renjo's photographs and paintings in the text as well as close to 90 plates. Includes essays on Shimooka Renjo's life and art, both as a photographer and painter. Shimooka Renjo (1823-1914) is credited with introducing photography and photographic techniques to Japan.
