Octavo, pp. [1-6] 7-9 [10-12] 13-188 [189] [190: printer's imprint] [191-192: blank] [note: last leaf is a blank], original blue cloth, spine panel stamped in gold, fore and bottom edges untrimmed. One of 250 numbered large paper copies signed by Machen. Laid into this copy is a small photograph of Machen. Published in December 1924, preceding the British trade issue published in February 1925. Collects eight short stories and articles. A story and two articles, one revised and expanded for this edition, are collected here for the first time under this title, the remainder appeared earlier in the 1923 Covici-McGee edition.
