Sobre este artículo

London: Hodder and Stoughton, 1975. A first edition, first printing published by Hodder in Stoughton in 1975. A very good book with inscribee's neat name to the front endpaper - Binding still very good. Foxing on preliminary pages, scattered foxing in book. Edges foxed and browned. In a very good (or better) unclipped wrapper without fading to titles on spine - with some edgewear. Dust wrapper design by Paul Bacon. Inscribed on the title page: 'For Jacques Horringa/-Book man!/Best wishes from/me/James C/Sydney 27th Nov 75/'. The inscription is accompanied by a Japanese symbol. "Shogun" is a historical novel by James Clavell set in 17th-century Japan. It follows the adventures of John Blackthorne, an English navigator shipwrecked on Japan's shores. As he becomes embroiled in the country's political intrigues and cultural clashes, he forms alliances with samurai and falls in love with a Japanese noblewoman. The novel delves into themes of honour, loyalty, and cultural exchange as Blackthorne navigates the complex world of feudal Japan, ultimately becoming entangled in the power struggles of warlords and the quest for a new Shogun. "Shogun" is a sweeping tale of East meeting West, offering insight into Japan's isolationist history. Inscribed copies of this, the first UK Edition, are scarce indeed.
