The 19 double-page spreads have been bound such that pages have been bound between each half of the image, also one two-leaf section escaped the binding but is present. The covers are a bit worn and there is minor dampstaining to the page edges. (Literature, Harper's Weekly, Magazines).

Complete text of the first two volumes in one volume. 12 mo., 276 pp. + 3 pp. Contents. Author was a French journalist who spent five months in the U.S. in the run up before the French Revolution. He traveled from Boston to Virginia "to study men who had just acquired their liberty". His journal was published in French in three volumes, the first two reprinted here in English translation. (The third volume dealt with commerce between America and Europe.) Mild offset toning within the text block, pages otherwise clean, unmarked, no foxing. Original endpapers frayed along edges with some offset darkening, small fingertip chip off front edge of page 170, else a very good, well preserved early American imprint in a fine, attractive binding. . Hard. Very Good/No Jacket, As Issued. 12mo.

A SUPERB PRESENTATION COPY, signed by Ezra Meeker in his shaky hand, and with a secretarial inscription to noted Northwest pioneer and author Clarence B. Bagley (with Bagley's bookplate). This inscription links two of the great figures of Seattle's early history, and would be a high-spot in any collection. A very good copy in the original grey-blue pictorial cloth, stamped in yellow and green (some wrinkling to cloth at top of spine; minor wear to edges).

Harrigan worked at the Printing Museum in Baltimore, Maryland for a number of years before founding in 1984 his publishing business, Xavier Press, where he specialized in printing miniature books. An avid stamp collector, much of the archive features work he did for various stamp collecting organizations around the United States.
