A beautiful edition of the shorter poems of English poet Robert Seymour Bridges, Poet Laureate from 1913 to 1930. A doctor by trade, he achieved literary fame only late in life. His poems reflect his Christian faith, and he is the author of many well-known hymns.'Shorter Poems' was first published in two volumes in 1890 and 1894. This 1914 edition, in a lovely full reverse calf binding, is scarce.With two pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear.With a former owner's inscription, dated 1924, to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original full reverse calf binding. Edge wear to back strip head and tail. Otherwise, externally lovely. Former owner's inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright. Very Good Indeed

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
