Sobre este artículo
Pansy is the pen name for American author Isabella Macdonald Alden, who was born in 1841. She wrote her first book in 1865 at the age of 24, and went on to be a prolific author of novels intended to communicate wholesome Christian messages to young people. Pansy's books were incredibly popular, and by 1900 100,000 Pansy books were being sold a year. Rev. Francis E. Clark in 1895 wrote of the popularity of the series that, "Probably no writer of stories for young people has been so popular or had so wide an audience as Mrs G.R. Alden, whose pen-name, 'Pansy,' is known wherever English books are read."
Sidney Martin's Christmas is a charming story about a young boy's efforts to make Christmas in his village particularly memorable. Along the way he has a series of adventures and encounters that lead him to the discovery of the true meaning of the Christmas season. It is a characteristic Pansy story that seeks to entertain while communicating a Christian message.
This copy is in Poor condition. There is significant staining to the boards, with wear to the fabric, and bumping to the corners.
The front board and flyleaf have separated from the binding, but it is still attached at the back.
There are no loose pages. The pages are discoloured with age, but the text is still entirely legible.
There is an inscription on the front flyleaf reading "Presented to Stella McGuiness by the Presbyterian S.S., Demorestville, Christmass .99" (presumably 1899) in a lovely hand.
