Philadelphia: George W. Childs, 1862. First Edition. HB. Black embossed cloth, gilt lettering on spine, 12 mo., 358 pp. Important account of the Army of the Potomac during the Peninsular campaign in Virginia by a correspondent of the Philadelphia Press. Owner's name ffep as follows: "Capt. John Jamison, Co B 7th Reg. P.R.V.I" John Jamison (or Jameson) was Captain of Company B of the 36th Pennsylvania Volunteers. Company B was recruited in Perry County, Pennsylvania as part of the 7th Pennsylvania Reserves. Jamison served as Captain from May 4, 1861 until he was wounded at the Battle of Antietam, September 14, 1862. His Regiment was involved in most of the action during the Peninsular Campaign. Another owner's name bottom of title page and at the bottom of page 167. No other marks in book, binding tight, front hinge cracked but holding firmly. Covers show very light edge wear, top and bottom of spine neatly reinforced. Book condition VG.
