Signature was a thrice yearly journal devoted to typography and graphic arts. Contents includes, inter alia,: (a) Barnett Freedman's 'Baynard Claudia' Alphabet of Initial Letters printed in red and black in the form of a superb eight-page inset; (b) a list of the printed and published wood engravings of Eric Ravilious (with a full page reproduction of his cover for the prospectus for Golden Cockerel Press in 1933); and (c) an essay by Paul Nash on the 'New Draughtsmen' that includes a collotype reproduction of a drawing by Edward Bawden (Newhaven No. 2) and Road with Rocks by Graham Sutherland. Laid in is a Prospectus and Order Form of 'Signature' SECOND SERIES (Published in November, March and July) to be published at 3s. per number with postage at 4d. or 10s. per annum post free. A couple of minor marks to the front cover overall an attractive VG+ copy. Quite scarce these days especially in collectable condition. Photographs/scans available upon request.
