Complete monthly number, with cameo copper engraved portraits of Silas Deane, the first foreign diplomat from the United States to France, who negotiated there for assistance and made secret arrangements with the Marquis de Lafayette to travel to America and join the Revolution (p525). Also a full page frontispiece engraved portrait titled, 'Achmett Ben Ali, an Aga of Tunis'. The Hibernian covered news and politics in Ireland, Britain, Europe and North America, as well as theater and book reviews, original prose and poetry, and business, marriage and death notices. The printed illustrations included important personages, music & practical items such as sewing patterns. 8vo, pp505 - 560. Single issue, extracted from yearly volume.
