Green cloth, green lettering, edges beginning darken, foot of spine worn, dj chipped, internally clean, tight and very good, Good/Fair. Wan Wyck Brooks paints the author as "a true citizen of the world...everywhere at home, interested in all things human as well as in animals, trees and birds, that has given us a fresh New York that is different from all others." Chiang Yee (1903-1977) had been a Chinese magistrate and district governor before he came to the West in 1933 and began his Silent Traveler series of the world's great cities. He was a Professor of Chinese at Columbia University and Emerson Fellow in Poetry at Harvard. He became an American citizen in 1966 but went back to his hometown in China to die..
