In the scarce original dustwrapper, lettered in blue and red. The wrapper is near to very good with some loss to the edges and darkening to the spine. Overall a very good copy. ----- This is the first edition of the play, and was issued as a volume in the uniform edition of the Plays of Barrie. Copies retaining the fragile original dustwrapper are scarce. ------ There are three versions of the Peter Pan story that J. M. Barrie published, after the character first appeared in hie novel The Little White Bird in 1902. The first is Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens, which was issued in 1906, complete with fifty full colour plates by Arthur Rackham. K EDITION. 8vo. 1st state of title page with the comma present after Essex Street. 4pp of publishers advert, dated autumn 1915. 31pp publishers catalogue, dated 8/5/15 bound in at rear. A very good clean copy in publishers original red cloth, titles and decoration to spine in gilt. Previous owner neat ink presentation inscription, dated 1. 11. 15, and the same name, but with his army number and regiment details, in pencil on front free endpaper. Spine cloth is a little darkened but the gilt is still bright and fresh. Some rubbing to edges and a one inch tear in the hinge cloth to the top of the front board. Overall a very good copy.

Some minor foxing to about a third of the pages. Overall a very good copy in original black and red snakeskin patterned cloth, with the spine lettered in gilt. Some minor rubbing to the extremities of the cloth but overall a very good example of Waugh's first collection of short stories with the gilt still very bright and vibrant.
