A Simplified Presentation of Einstein's Unified Field Equations de Tullio Levi-Civita - 1949

This is a rare copy of the first authorized translation of Tullio Levi-Civita's presentation of Einstein's Unified Field Equations. Translated by famed Scottish mathematician, John Dougall, the reprint was released 20 years after the original Italian publication. The presentation relates to electromagnetism and gravity. It is an elegant paper written by one of the greatest scientific minds of the 20th century. The Octavo booklet (pp. 22) has been well preserved (practically undisturbed) for well over 10 years. Although it is 72 years old, it is in relatively very good condition. This is a small yet significant piece of academic and mathematical history.

Tullio Levi-Civita was an Italian mathematician (1873-1941) best known for his work on the absolute differential calculus and the theory of tensors. He was a close friend of Einstein, highly influential and respected in academic circles. Tullio Levi-Civita was a leading figure in the creation of the International Congresses of Applied Mechanics, and remained an active member of the committee until his death in 1941.
