Uniformly bound in original red cloth stamped in gilt, this massive undertaking, tracing Chinese art and calligraphy throughout the ages, illustrated with hundreds of colour reproductions, with many fold out, including three folio volumes which are dedicated entirely to the work of Sun Ch'eng-Tse (1592 or 1593-1676), Lan Ying (1585-1660's0 and Hsu Lin (1462-1538), which have folding concertina like folding plates.
