Sobre este artículo

New York: Whitney Library of Design, 1981. Comprehensive text presents a critical analysis of one of Britain's most famous and controversial architects- Edwin Lutyens, and traces his prolific career and reveals aspects of his architectural theory by focusing on his country houses. Topics include: Lutyen's background and influences; his work derived from the vernacular; his association with the noted landscape gardner Gertrude Jekyll; his developing use of criticism, beginning with additions to Crooksbury in 1898 and later with Heathcote (1906) and Gledstone Hall (1919); alterations, restorations, and later monumental works such as the British Embassy in Washington, D.C. (1925), and Middleton Park (1935-1938). The author covers 41 of Lutyen's most important works and illustrates them with excellent photographs and drawings. 168 pgs. Illustrated with 150 black/white photographs. Gilt spine. Prior ownership name-stamp on lower front endpaper. Dustjacket has a few tiny closed tears on the upper edge; in mylar. Minimal rubbing and shelfwear to text.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good. Oblong.
