Three maps, one folding. A very good copy, the binding firm with some bumping at the corners and tips of the somewhat toned and slightly rolled spine. The contents are clean throughout and without inscriptions or stamps. Bennet Burleigh, was hired in 1881 by the London Telegraph to cover the war in Sudan. He was a correspondent for the Central News Agency during the bombardment of Alexandria in 1882 and was the first to report the failure of the Gordon relief expedition, which led to the slaughter of the Khartoum garrison.
