The American News Co., NY, undated, circ. 1884, VERY GOOD HC, also called 'People's Edition' on fr. cover; possibly published after many revisions. Includes 'Rip Van Winkle" & 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' among the 33 fictional stories. Preface includes an interesting letter exchange with Sir Walter Scott. The cloth over board covers have highly decorated fr. & spine; gilt on spine only. Covers have very light corner bumps; spine has mild end curls & wear along fr. edge. Pages are foxed along top edges & inside covers & end pages. Except for normal page tanning book condition is excellent: VERY GOOD!

I have found another volume of this same book in similiar condition. I have only read the preface at this time, however it is very interesting because it is written in the old enlish style of the day. very unique to read the language and phrases of the time
