Illustrated with black and white images occasionally throughout. Frontispiece is a black and white portrait of Colonel William Polk, Revolutionary officer for whom Polk County was named. Publication of this book was sponsored by: Tryon Kiwanis Club, Tryon Rotary Club, Boosters' Club of Saluda, Lookout Club of Columbus, Ruritan Club of Mill Spring, The Historical Commission of Polk County, Carroll P. Rodgers and John Henry Gibbs, Co-Chairmen, Seth M. Vining, John G. Landrum, Jr., R. Holland Brandy, and James R. Trowbridge. Ornamented initials begin each new chapter. Includes a list of pre-publication subscribers at the back. Indexed. xiv, 161 pp. <br><br>CONDITION: Overall very good+, this copy shows some shelf wear and minor discoloration on the exterior. Pages 103 through 106 are detached, yet present. Some occasional light foxing, predominantly within endpapers. Completely unmarked except for author's signature. Boards are firmly attached and binding is solid. Very few signed copies exist. A very nice copy. Full refund if not satisfied.
