This is a spellbinding collection of tales of literary detection in the libraries and old bookshops in New York, Florence, Paris, and Dublin. Illustrated with 6 plates including a frontispiece. Bound in the original blue boards with a gilt-stamped red cloth spine and printed paper label on its front cover. From the dust jacket: "With a gay, humorous touch, the author depicts his adventures, relating an infinite variety of curious tales - from forgery to leprosy, from Tarzan to abandoned babies, from tragedy in a Swiss crevasse to murder in California, from an Arabic novel to an Irish yarn. Not only book lovers, but everyone eager for strange information served deftly and with laughter will find diversion in Mr. Altrocchi's sleuthing…". First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good condition/Very Good dust jacket. 8vo. xiii, 281pp. Great Packaging, Fast Shipping.

Sobre About Books

About Books (Genny and Michael Winne, proprietors, formerly of Parsippany, New Jersey) has been selling rare and OP books since 1985. Besides book fairs and mail-order catalogues, long-time collectors and dealers will remember our lengthy For Sale ads in the Antiquarian Bookman and similar magazines. Our inventory of over 40,000 volumes is especially strong in the specialties listed, but contains fine books in a variety of other fields as well. Because most of our books are stored in protective boxes, rather than on shelves, they cannot be viewed as a whole. If you wish to visit us to examine specific titles, please provide 24 hours notice and we will make them available for your inspection. Phone calls to (702) 750-2722 are welcome, but please, only between the hours of 8am and 10pm (west coast time).
