Superb and tight first edition of this simple tale. This interesting copy hails from the library of Senator Adlai E. Stevenson III (b. 1930) and belonged to his father, twice Illinois governor and twice presidential candidate Adlai E. Stevenson II (1900-65) -- front flyleaf bears nonauthorial gift inscription (signer unknown) in blue ink on front flyleaf: "To Adlai Stevenson / Joy and blessings / on / your birthday / Marjorie Gilles / 5 February 1954."

I own this book and would like to win for my grandchildren and great grandchildren to read. It is a beautiful rendition of the Circle of Life, the Creation Story regardless of your specific religion and an explanation of the what each phase of life from birth to death means. A more beautiful story you could not leave for your children and their children to read or have read to them. This is a book that a hospice patient could enjoy having someone read to him or her.
This is a lovely story for everyone on so many levels. I can see this being read to a child with cancer or other debilitating illness.
