A very impressive Association copy, having belonged to Ruth Benedict (1887-1948), one of the few anthropologists whose stature was almost as towering as Margaret Mead's. THIS COPY (ESSENTIALLY "THE DEDICATION COPY" GIVEN THAT MEAD DEDICATED THIS VOLUME TO BENEDICT) IS NEATLY SIGNED BY RUTH BENEDICT along the front cover's top-edge. A clean, sharp copy to boot of the 1930 1st edition. Solid and VG+ in its chocolate-brown wrappers, with light creasing along the spine. Quarto, Bulletin #76 under the formidable Bernice Bishop Museum imprint.
