Illustrated with fifty coloured plates with tissue guards. Collated complete. A collection of reproductions of watercolour drawings of English gardens with notes. Includes a variety of gardens from Brockenhurst and Great Tangley Manor, to Cleeve Prior, Speke Hall, and Stone Hall in Easton. Illustrated by George Samuel Elgood, an English artist and illustrator who became well known for his paintings of formal gardens. With notes from Gertrude Jekyll, a British horticulturist, garden designer, craftswoman, photographer, writer and artist. She created over 400 gardens in the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States. In the original cloth binding. Externally, sound with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. A chip to the spine and the odd mark to the board. Minor fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the endpapers. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper. Good

Where are We?
Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
