H. G. Wells, known today for his prophetical writings in Science Fiction, was also a social commentator through articles and novels that he wrote. 'The Soul of a Bishop' is a satirical fantasy of an Anglican Bishop finding God. H. G. Wells' Bishop has a vision of God that makes him realize "Truth". He undergoes a spiritual odyssey that takes him from mitred misery to contented poverty. Some amusing points are made about the temptations of power and the temptations of powerlessness, religious ideas that were striking to the Anglican Church in 1917.
A very good company to round out a collection of the writings of H. G. Wells.
