Sobre este artículo

New York: Random House, 1965. Limited Edition. Hardcover. Near fine/near fine. Octavo, 909pp. A crisp, clean copy, near fine, in the publisher's black cloth. Inner hinges slightly stressed, but sound and holding. This is number 472 of 500 limited copies SIGNED by Michener on the limitation page. Contemporary gift inscription to the half-title page, and there is some tape residue on the previous two blank leaves, the first of which is the reverse side of the limitation page. However this flaw is really not disfiguring, and this remains a gift-quality example. In the original clear dust jacket, a bit smudged; near fine. In the publisher's slipcase, with sticker residue and some gentle dust-soiling on the top edge. The scarce signed limited edition of this sweeping novel by Michener, which tells the story of the Jewish people through a frame narrative set in contemporary Israel.

Sinopsis

In his signature style of grand storytelling, James Michener sweeps us back through time to the Holy Land, thousands of years ago. By exploring the lives and discoveries of modern archaeologists excavating the site of Tell Makor, Michener vividly re-creates life in and around an ancient city during critical periods of its existence, and traces the profound history of the Jews, including that of the early Hebrews and their persecution, the impact of Christianity on the Jewish world, the Crusades, and the Spanish Inquisition. Michener weaves his epic tale of love, strength, and faith until at last he arrives at the founding of Israel and the modern conflict in the Middle East. The Source is not only a compelling history of the Holy Land and its people but a richly written saga that encompasses the development of Western civilization and the great religious and cultural ideas that have shaped our world. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Sobre Cleveland Book Company

We are proud members of the ABAA.

As a small, independent bookseller in Cleveland, Ohio, I deal in general used, rare, and antiquarian books, autographs, manuscripts, pamphlets, and personal and family papers in all subjects. My family has been in the antiquarian book business since 1971. Are you moving, downsizing, or doing some spring cleaning? Did you inherit or otherwise come into some old books? Or, maybe you've collected modern novels from the last thirty or fifty years. No matter what kinds of books you have, we'd love to take a look at them! We travel throughout Ohio, western Pennsylvania and New York, southern Michigan, and eastern Indiana, and will travel farther in some cases to look at whole libraries or even just a few particularly interesting books. Give us a call at (216) 352-3940 and we can talk more about the kinds of books you have.
