Full leather over boards edge worn on all volumes, with shelf wear as well. Volume 3 has a scraped area at lower front. Volume 4 has split at joint between spine and front, although the front board is still attached. Binding and hinges sound. Pages clean, tanned, with marbled page edges visible when closed. Two fold-out maps (Syria and the eastern Mediterranean) in back of Volume 4 are in good to very good condition. ; Account of a trip to the Middle East written by Alphonse Marie Louis de Prat de Lamartine (1790-1869), French author, poet, and statesman. Ex-Library; 8.25" tall; 1552 pages.
