Washington: The Secretary of Agriculture, Government Printing Office, 1893. Original. Unbound. Very Good. A very attractive and somewhat scarce chromolithographed plate from The Hawks and Owls of the United States in Their Relation to Agriculture (U.S. Department of Agriculture Division of Ornithology and Mammalogy Bulletin No. 3) by A. K. Fisher and C. Hart Merriam. These were taken from a disintegrating book in order to preserve the plates (I discourage taking books apart for the illustrations unless there is no way to salvage the book). Page size is slightly smaller than 6 by 9 inches (14.5 x 22.5 cm). Generally the condition of the plates varies as there was some water damage to the book. This plate's condition is: Very Good. Light water stain to lower left corner. Overall there is some edgewear to the paper. The colors are very nice, and the scanned image does not truly capture the full depth and attractive color of the actual plate. The plates are all rough where they were bound into the book. Please see the image and ask for more if needed.
