Sobre este artículo

London: Joseph Johnson, St. Paul's Churchyard, 1774. [Education] LEATHER-BOUND FIRST EDITION. Octavo (21 x 13cm), pp.[xxxii] 376. Brown full calf, upper board and spine rebound. Blind ruling to boards. Red label with gilt title to spine. Raised bands. Top edge green. Heavy toning to leaves, especially preliminaries and rear. Frequent light foxing, and a few annotations in black ink. Owner's inscribed name cut from corner of title page. Other inscription in black ink to flyleaf. Split front hinge. Toning to edges. Upper board slightly rubbed to joints and edges. Original lower board shows more signs of age, discolouration, and cracking. Overall, a very good preservation. The elocutionary movement of the eighteenth-century sought to make the art of speech a formal discipline in schools. This book, exemplary of the movement's wishes, comprises a collection of literary extracts paired with an essay on elocution.
