A description of the architecture of the Carthusian monastery of Pavia. Seventy copper engravings, eight of which are double spreads. Heavy wear to corners and along the spine on front panel, stains to fore and top edge (not affecting the plates), scattered foxing throughout. A good copy. ; Folio.

Volume Three of the collection catalogue, consisting of two books in a slip case, discusses and illustrates nearly 600 Chinese ceramics from the Neolithic period to the Yuan (1279-1368), many of which are today on display in the Rietberg Museum, Zurich. Volume Four, also consisting of two books in a slip case, covers China's porcelain production from the Yuan to the Qing dynasty (1644-1911) with some 250 entries. This collection is now dispersed. The 1994 publication of Volumes One and Two of the catalogue, which presented earlier acquisitions, is currently out of print..

This is an exceptional copy with a large Quatro, in-4°, xi pp + 158 pp + 83 black/white photo plates each protected with a serpente leaf. The binding is a magnificent and elaborately bound copy. Bound by the Clarendon Press in Oxford ( signed on the inside of the front cover). Full red crushed morocco, on the front cover a panel stamp with the large coat of arms of the Goldsmiths Company with their motto Justitia, Virtutum, Regina (Justice endowed with the Queen), all gold tooled the back cover has a similar decoration but with a crowned lion's head instead of the arms, top edge gilt, raised gilt spine gilt title and year. Doublure with gold tooled leather border, binding signed at the lower end of the doublure '' bound at Clarendon Press Oxford ''. A remarkable copy with very light fox (all copies have this, apparently it's iron in the papermaking process)

Leather attached a bit awkwardly at spine ends, marbled boards rubbed and worn, edges of front board discolored from old tape removal, but binding solid, edges nicked on a few leaves, scattered foxing mainly affecting the margins, plates sharp, colors bright, a quite useful copy..
